Appointment Preparation
Important information for new clients
The following information and documents will assist us to maximise your appointment time and concentrate on your particular concerns. If you are unable to collate the information prior to your appointment, we are happy to go through it on the day.
Fees
Information regarding our fees and charges will be emailed to you prior to your appointment.
What to prepare
- A list of questions and/or notes about the particular matters on which you seek advice, together with details of any court dates (if relevant) and/or deadlines.
- In relation to children’s matters, please collate any notes relating to the history of your children’s care and any issues you think are important.
- Details of any intervention orders or safety concerns.
- If your matter relates to a property settlement or financial agreement, a list of current income, assets and liabilities, business information and any superannuation entitlements, for both parties. If possible, please include an estimate of property values, current balances of bank accounts and provide copies of the most recent superannuation statement.
What to bring
- Completed Client Information form (if not completed electronically)
- A list of notes or questions
- Copies of any relevant court orders, documents or agreements (including any child support assessments)
- Copies of any correspondence with your former partner and/or their lawyer
What to expect on the day
During your appointment, we will provide you with information and advice about the issues that concern you, as well as providing advice about the options available to resolve those matters. Initial consultations may run between 60 and 90 minutes.
What to expect after your appointment
If you ask us to, we will provide written confirmation of our advice together with a detailed estimate of anticipated costs and disbursements. We will also provide our retainer information and Legal Services Agreement.
An invoice will be issued for payment at the end of the month (comprising our fees for the initial appointment together with any subsequent attendances). Our payment options include EFT, BPAY, cash or card (including AMEX).
